Surviving After The Rat Race

New Leaders Urge Essential Guide to Investment Terms

Derrick Greene, October 15, 2026October 15, 2026

Investments Update

My Fidelity Investments brokerage account has been doing some weird gymnastics. People tell the SEC chief Gary Gensler he is fired on day one of the new Trump administration. Additionally, the markets wobble while policies shift. Stay tuned. More soon.

However, investments in both the stock market and crypto markets will become unrestricted. Have you made changes to your own crypto exchanges, like I did with SimpleSwap? Meanwhile, we’ll watch how policy chatter matches market moves. It all ties back to investments and your own choices.

I needed to learn a few new terms, including investments. The one used below relates to stocks and crypto.

Additionally, what does \”RSI cooling off\” mean for investments?

In trading and technical analysis, “RSI cooling off” refers to the Relative Strength Index (RSI). Thus, in that context, it often means the following.

Returning to Neutral Zone, the RSI is an oscillator that ranges from 0 to 100.

Moreover, when it is cooling off, the RSI moves toward neutral around 50, or within 30 to 70.

This shift shows price momentum stabilizing after extreme buying or selling pressure.

Momentum Reset: If the RSI has been at high levels indicating overbought conditions, a cooling off period shows momentum waning.

Consequently, this could mean the asset’s price might experience a correction or a trend continuation after the momentum has rebalanced.

However, traders may see an RSI cooling from overbought levels as a sign of a price drop. Moreover, the buying pressure that pushed the RSI into overbought territory is fading. Conversely, if the RSI cools from oversold levels, selling pressure may ease, possibly lifting prices.

This trend confirmation is complete.

In Uptrends: If the RSI cools off but stays above 40, it might indicate an ongoing uptrend.

Additionally, this occurs after a brief pause or correction.

Additionally, in Downtrends, the RSI cooling off and staying below a level like 60 signals the setup. It could confirm the downtrend’s persistence after a small rally or consolidation.

Hidden Strength or Weakness: If the RSI cools faster than price, it might show hidden strength in an uptrend.

Additionally, this could suggest that the underlying trend might be stronger than what the price action currently shows.

The term “cooling off” does not imply a specific strategy.

It describes the RSI’s movement away from extreme values.

Moreover, traders use this to gauge potential momentum shifts or trend continuation.

Additionally, RSI should be used with other indicators for robust trading decisions.
